Description
This dedicated Children's Development Centre situated in F Block of the Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup is a refurbishment that creates a bright, modern, child and parent friendly purpose built venue. The centre provides a wide range of services for children including community paediatrics, speech and language therapy, audiology, child and adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), occupational therapy, physiotherapy, portage, community children's nursing and an eye clinic.
Innovations & Added Value
We worked with Bowex to provide a holistic and informal environment that appeals to patients of all ages, nurturing their imagination and aiding self confidence. A series of leaf graphics, jungle-scapes and branch structures were developed in an interactive workshop held with the children who use Oxleas' services, which informed the design throughout. Motifs act as a navigational tool and help with wayfinding for patients and staff moving internally and externally.
